NFU MUTUAL STRATHENDRICK ROTARY CLASSIC CAR TOUR 2010
FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
Welcome to our Strathendrick Rotary Classic Car Tour. This year jointly sponsored by the NFU Mutual and The Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne. We hope you will all enjoy what we have prepared for you. Importantly the Tour also aims to raise money for the Rotary Charity “End Polio Now” and “CHAS” Children’s Hospice Association Scotland.
We start from The Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne, G63 9LA on the A81, with the first car leaving at 10am prompt. Tea and coffee and bacon rolls will be available
8.30 to 10am. Please allow time for signing on, when the Road Books will be issued. There will be a brief Driver’s Meeting at 9.45am.
We will set the cars off in numerical order as per the list attachment. The approximate one minute interval is designed to avoid blocking the narrow local roads with a convoy of 60 cars all emerging from The Beech Tree at once!! Once on the road you are free to travel at your own pace and with friends if desired, however it is essential that you do not hold up other participants or road users. If your vehicle is slower, then please allow others to pass at appropriate places. The only fixed times are the start time at the Beech Tree Inn and the finish back at Culcreuch Castle for High Tea and prize giving at 4.30pm. Please endeavour not to be late.
Also please be aware that you are on public roads and that you will encounter other road users, farm animals and wildlife. Please drive with care and consideration. The route has been designed that if you have to slow down when travelling on narrow, twisty roads, there are ample opportunities to make up time on wider roads elsewhere along the route. You are also reminded that the Strathendrick Classic Car Tour is not a race but a Tour to be enjoyed by all. The Police have approved our route and their Police Inspectors are aware of the event.
There is no official morning Coffee Stop this year, however refreshments and toilets are available at Inveruglas for a brief stop only if required.
Please make sure you have a full tank of fuel – the first petrol available is at Crieff (more than 90 miles from the start).
The severe winter has taken its toll on some of the roads and you are advised part of the single track road on the south side of Loch Tay has some severe pot holes – the road book highlights the relative section.
It is advisable to bring a road atlas in case you have to miss out part of the route and make your way directly to the finish. If you have to retire from the event please inform the organiser: Joe Norman on 07889 607547 so that the Marshalls are not waiting for you.
Start Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne on A81 and finish at Culcreuch Castle, Fintry

TULIP NAVIGATION NOTES. The sample of Tulip diagrams will be included in the Road Book which will be available at the Start from 8.30am.
CODE BOARDS To add a little flavour to the event, there will be a number of Code Boards around the route for you to record on your quiz sheet.
PASSAGE CONTROLS Marshalls may be located at Passage Controls en route
to establish that the correct route has been followed.
RALLY PLATES You will be provided with a commemorative Rally Plate which should be attached to the front of your car. Tie bands will be provided for securing to the bumpers where suitable. More modern sports cars may find it best to secure on the inside of the windscreen (making sure not to impair vision) using blue tack or tape which you should provide. The Organisers are not responsible for any damage to paintwork.

Thanks to Stirling Council who have sponsored a Concourse d’Elegance Award for the car in the most original and best prepared condition, with bonus marks if the Driver and navigator are in period dress – this is a separate award to the most desirable car.
