Press and Communications
Convenor: - Bill Astley Jones
Bill and Linda came to Killearn in 1973; in 1974 Bill joined the Killearn Speakers club, which met in the Black Bull Hotel. Work took them to Devon in 1976 where in 1980 at the invitation of his Bank Manager, Bill became a member of the Rotary Club of Crediton in Mid Devon where he was Social Activities leader, that was thirty years ago.
On returning to Scotland he transferred to the Rotary Club of Strathendrick where he has enjoyed good fellowship ever since. He is a Past President of the Club and has served on most of the committees.
The Press and Communications Committee are responsible for internal communications and promoting the Club's profile in the local community by regular contributions to the press together with collaborative information from the charities with which they are working.
The committee also aim to broaden the information on the Club's website to keep both members and others aware of forthcoming events and activities. One of the key members of this team provides an excellent and varied range of speakers for meetings and also publishes the monthly club bulletin called "Focus". Club Convenors are encouraged to submit contributions to Press and Communications for editing and subsequent submission to the appropriate medium. Members also play their part by sending in photographs of the various club activities and it is hoped that these will reflect a more informal and more true to life visual account of what Rotary do in the locality.
